We've all had that feeling, you try to power on your system or plug in an external drive and it’s no longer detected or your system fails to boot. Don't panic!

A typical customer will contact our office when panic sets in and you're no longer able to access your data or your system suddenly fails to boot. Hard drives are prone to fail and often times it seems to occur during the most inopportune times. Generally speaking Voree has noticed hard drives last approximately 5 to 7 years; this number isn’t exact as we've also seen drives fail well beyond that mark.

Your hard drive may give you signs of failure including corrupt system and/or program files, errors on start-up, and even overall system performance issues. There are also times when your hard drive may be working fine one day and the next you're dealing with a defective drive. Certain factors like heat, power on hours, or most the notorious when working in a mobile environment with laptops is shock and/or trauma.

Voree is often times successful in recovering the contents on the drive but there are some cases when a hard drive may be in such disarray they we cannot recover all the contents – the best advice is to bring your hard drive in for inspection as soon as possible. Often times we've received calls from customers who attempt to repair or recover the contents on their own and often make a bad situation even worse.
The second biggest issue facing a lot of our customers is where to store their recovered content.


Most customers are not even aware of the approximate size or amount of data they're looking to recover. With the increasing amount of data hard drives store today occasionally Voree may require the customer provide and external storage device so Voree can back-up and transfer the content over.
If a customer does not have an external storage device we can offer recommendations and even provide an external device to back-up your contents to.
