If you happen to be suffering from a laptop that suddenly stops powering on or powers off unexpectedly you're not alone.
Voree IT Solutions has lots of customers contact us on a daily basis with similar stories. This may be a sign of a simple power adapter failure or it could be the internal power jack inside your laptop that has completely failed.
We've received calls from customers who have mentioned they've had to wiggle or hold the AC adapter is a certain position for the laptop to power on properly or charge.
This may be a simple work around for the time being but long term you're most likely causing further damage so we highly recommended bringing your laptop in for service before the issue gets worse.
We have encountered some systems where the customer has done the opposite and continued to utilize their laptop with this problem and they end up ruining their motherboard or damaging internal components.
This internal damage is usually accompanied by a pop or a spark sound and you may notice a foul odor of burnt components – if you happen to reach this point it's probably too late.
If you bring your system in for a power jack repair at Voree IT solutions we can often repair the problem without requiring a complete replacement motherboard. We carry about 95% of the most common power jacks in stock but there are occasions when your system may have an abnormal jack size or layout, which may require us to order the proper replacement.
Voree has also encountered Toshiba Satellites systems where the customer’s power jack is fully functional but it's been pushed inside the case of the laptop. These Toshiba systems in particular appear to be notorious for this type of problem & Voree has fabricated mounting brackets for our customers in the past to resolve this issue.
This can also occur in other brands of laptops but we have noticed this appears to be most common with Toshiba brand systems.
If you're unsure if you're dealing with a laptop power jack problem or an AC adapter problem feel free to contact us. We have the ability to test most AC adapters immediately and we can let you know if it appears to be a simple adapter problem or an internal issue.
